Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra The award-winning Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra begins the 2018-19 season under the helm of a new maestro, St. Petersburg's Daniel Raiskin, whose worldly experience includes orchestras in Mexico City, Athens, Osaka, Hong Kong, Düsseldorf, KwaZulu-Natal, and Malmö (to name but a few). Highlights from the 2018-19 season, which promises an embarrassment of riches, include Venezuelan pianist Gabriela Montero performing Tchaikovsky's first Piano Concerto (Russian Masters, April 26-27, 2019); Mathew Morrison Sings Glee & Broadway (May 10-11); along with the WSO's renowned New Music Festival (late January-early February) which recently hosted Philip Glass and will this year feature Pulitzer Prize-winner Caroline Shaw.
