Winnipeg worked with Canada Goose to open its third production facility in the city. With this additional capacity, the globally known outerwear manufacturer will be able to produce all its down-filled jackets onsite. Demand for Canada Goose products is growing around the world, and the company knows that they can count on Winnipeg to provide the high production quality they are known for. One of the biggest and best video game developers in the world, Ubisoft, announced the creation of a developer studio in the city which adds to a global team of over 13,000 employees. With the expansion, Ubisoft is bringing cutting-edge industry jobs to the city for some of the biggest titles in the video game industry. The company is looking to develop their talent pool right here, working with the existing local interactive digital media industry and educational institutions to develop and retain world-class talent. The introduction of new technology jobs in Winnipeg continued when developer Master of Code announced they were establishing their head office in the city. As a full-service software provider, this innovative tech company specializes in mobile applications and chatbot technology. With over 160 employees in Ukraine, Master of Code selected Winnipeg as their launching point for the North American marketplace. With the introduction of legal cannabis to the Canadian market, Winnipeg's central location and friendly community spirit was an instant fit for GrowForce. This medical cannabis company launched its flagship cannabis cultivation facility in Winnipeg with a massive 120,000-square-foot facility. With a goal of becoming one of Canada's premium licensed producers, GrowForce will begin shipping its Winnipeg-grown products in 2019. The city's well-earned reputation as a transportation and distribution hub attracted a group of retail chains under the Stern Partners investor group. This group, which includes the Warehouse One, Ricki's, Bootlegger, and Cleo retail chains, announced the consolidation of their e-commerce and distribution operations into a single Winnipeg facility, merging their operations in Vancouver and Quebec into the city through its Parian Logistics affiliate. This new space will also include the head offices of Warehouse One and Ricki's. The impact on the city's economy from these innovative new businesses is noticeable, adding an additional $77 million in capital injection in 2018 alone in addition to over $65 million in annual payroll value. Of particular note is the number of new jobs being created – over 1,500 from across a wide range of industries and backgrounds. As these national and international companies settle into their new Winnipeg home, they join a long list of successes that help tell the positive Winnipeg story which is being heard around the world.
