Dayna Spiring President and CEO Economic Development WINNIPEG | Tourism WINNIPEG | YES! WINNIPEG MESSAGE FROM THE MAYOR OF WINNIPEG Welcome to Winnipeg! Winnipeg is a growing, thriving, and vibrant city at the heart of the continent. Our world-class festivals, lively arts and culture scene, and dynamic sporting events continue to attract visitors from around the world. Winnipeg has become a must see destination for tourists, having been named one of the "best trips on earth" last year by National Geographic and specifically mentioned by USA Today and the LA Times. Our downtown has seen over $1 billion in private sector investment over the last couple of years and it is beginning to show. From our historic Exchange District to The Forks to the Sports, Hospitality and Entertainment District, our downtown has something for everyone. Our festivals, from Folk Fest to Folklorama, are colourful celebrations of diversity and local talent. Our galleries and museums, from the Canadian Museum for Human Rights to the Winnipeg Art Gallery, are one of a kind. Our sporting events are always packed with dedicated fans bursting with energy and pride. In the winter, our Arctic Glacier Winter Park at The Forks includes one kilometre of skating trails with warming huts, a toboggan hill, a snowboard park, and snow lounge. The Festival du Voyageur, celebrating Métis and First Nations culture, is now the largest winter festival in Western Canada. The Journey to Churchill polar bear exhibit at the Assiniboine Park Zoo makes for a great family excursion. Winnipeg also offers an excellent and diverse selection of top quality restaurants and a growing variety of shopping — from local artisans to international retailers. And our Osborne Village was voted one of the best neighbourhoods in Canada! On behalf of the City of Winnipeg and my Council colleagues, enjoy your time in Winnipeg.
