It's Canada's oldest civic art gallery along with being the home to the world's largest public collection of contemporary Inuit art. Every year the WAG brings in blockbuster shows featuring some of history's best-known artists, while its permanent collection is brimming with outstanding Canadian, Indigenous, European and contemporary works. On top of this, it's also one of Winnipeg's best venues, with stunning event spaces and a rooftop sculpture garden that will take your event to new heights. But this is just the beginning. WAG Inuit Art Centre Set to open in 2020, coinciding with Manitoba's 150th anniversary, the $65-million WAG Inuit Art Centre will be unlike anything else in the world. As a gallery space, it will provide a showcase for the WAG's 13,000 works of contemporary Inuit art, while as an institution, it will innovate the art museum. One of the key features at the Inuit Art Centre will be the world's first visible glass vault of its kind. Spanning three storeys, the vault Come listen at the Winnipeg Art Gallery will be visible from street level, while within it you'll see thousands of carvings. The building itself will evoke the stark beauty of the Arctic landscape, providing several unique spaces for meetings, parties and gatherings, while an interactive theatre will play host to performers, Elders, storytellers, educators, artists and other knowledge carriers to share their voices.
