16 2018 Annual Report New research tools An artificial intelligence-enabled lead generator, Gazelle.ai, has been added to EDW's toolkit. This research tool uses an artificial intelligence algorithm to identify company prospects globally that implement Winnipeg's value proposition. This tool will support EDW's foreign direct investment (FDI) and business retention expansion (BRE) efforts. Additionally, EDW has added LocalIntel, a set of 14 market information platforms, which will enhance EDW's capacity to organize and disseminate market information to industry stakeholders through its website. This tool enables the user to access market information on Winnipeg's economy in a variety of different forms including graphs, tables, and written overviews. Through this website platform, EDW has also incorporated various data and content elements from the City of Winnipeg's Open Data Portal. Intelligent Community Forum (ICF) 2018 For the third time in four years, EDW was successful in advancing Winnipeg to the ICF Top 7 Intelligent Community designation. Although not selected as the most Intelligent Community of the Year, Winnipeg was well recognized as a leading intelligent community. Winnipeg received this recognition as a result of its collaborative community approach to developing a culture of intelligent community thinking and decision making. Google partnership To help provide the most current and relevant destination information to tourists and residents, EDW entered into a partnership with Google in 2018, through Google's Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) Partnership program. This innovative partnership allows EDW to provide content onto Google's Winnipeg information pages, providing tips and information directly to visitors. This will provide visitors information about the city, upcoming events, great restaurants, iconic attractions, and local businesses. The DMO Partnership program allows EDW to verify local companies looking to claim their Google My Business listing, allowing them to edit their company's information that displays in Google Search and Maps.
