31 2018 Annual Report Notable Events held/tracked Examples of notable events held in Winnipeg include: Delegates at Meetings and Conventions Participants at Sports & Special Events Canadian Institute of Planners – 2018 Annual Conference/99 th Anniversary 750 INDSPIRE – 2018 Soaring Indigenous Youth Career Conference & Indspire Awards 1,000 Canadian Medical Association – 2018 Health Summit 750 Ringette Canada – 2018 Canadian Championships 1,200 Community Futures Network of Canada – 2018 National Community Futures Conference 700 Rugby Canada – 2018 U18 Western Canadian Rugby Championships 900 Council of State Governments Midwest – The Council of State Governments Midwestern Legislative Conference 2018 600 Swimming Canada – 2018 Canadian Junior Swimming Championships 975 The Royal Canadian Legion - 2018 Dominion Convention 968 World Flying Disc Federation - 2018 World Masters Ultimate Club Championships 1,700 Tourism Winnipeg organized more than 27 initiatives, and hosted 108 clients representing 54 accounts on site visits of the city. The team managed the sponsorships and promotions showcasing Winnipeg in order to provide partners with solid leads and opportunities to meet clients. Tourism Winnipeg also led the Team Winnipeg and Winnipeg Tour Connection marketing consortiums that bring together more than 60 stakeholders to promote Winnipeg as a meetings, conventions and group tour destination. Marketing Consortiums Tourism Winnipeg and Team Winnipeg partners created a Hermetic Code themed escape room at the Eastern Consortium in Ottawa in order to promote Winnipeg to VIP meeting and convention clients. Winnipeg was also brought to the forefront during several sponsored industry events in Toronto and Ottawa, as well as during personalized site visits of the city and a group familiarization tour to confirm future meetings, conventions, sports and special events. Tourism Winnipeg and Winnipeg Tour Connection continued to showcase Winnipeg at initiatives that resulted in a steady increase of interest in Winnipeg as a student and group tour destination. The expansion of Winnipeg's student attractions and their customized programs, as well as the city's public spaces available for school band performances contributed to the success of attracting new group tours to the city.
