Nellie McClung, a renowned
author, feminist and social activist,
is most remembered for her fight to
get women the vote. She played a
leading role in the 1914 campaign
against the Manitoba government
and staged a mock parliament
at Winnipeg's Walker Theatre.
This turned the tide and in 1916,
Manitoba was the first province to
grant women the right to vote.
At the age of eight,
Winnipegger
Hannah Taylor
founded the Ladybug
Foundation in 2004, which
has gone on to raise more
than $3 million while advocating
for the homeless. In 2017, Taylor received
the prestigious global Muhammad Ali
Humanitarian Award for her work.
The cell phone was
