In January 2019, A Maze in Corn constructed 'A Maze in Snow' using roughly 300 truckloads of snow to fill the maze's six-and-a-half foot walls. Measuring over 30,000 sq. ft., the giant outdoor maze quickly achieved Guiness World Record status as the largest of its kind, and has become one of the most popular winter attractions in Manitoba featuring snow sculptures, bonfires, hot chocolate and snacks onsite. ZOO LIGHTS The new after-hours Zoo Lights Festival at Assiniboine Park will feature thousands of light installations from traditional tree wrapping to the latest technology in outdoor lighting and projection to bring to life a magically illuminated fictional Manitoba town: Polar Town. This winter town will include visits from Santa, fire pits and a Third + Bird artisan market. In addition to an amazing light show, Polar Town will be brought to life through nightly live music, dramatic performance, interactive art projects, storytelling, physical activities, and diverse food and beverage options. Runs November 30 - January 5. WHAT'S N EW 250-SEAT PATIO AT THE FORKS Winnipeg's newest and biggest patio is located in front of The Forks Market. It may be the biggest one in Western Canada and one of the largest in Canada. There are communal- style picnic tables (seating up to 10), comfortable Adirondack chairs and bistro sets. No umbrella required — trees provide shade for almost every spot. The patio features an outdoor version of The Common beverage kiosk, where there are 20 wines and 20 beers to choose from curated by one of the world's top sommeliers, Vérnoique Rivest. Angie Masse
