It targets Canadian association executives and meeting planners, and it provides information on the best products and services Winnipeg offers. Tourism Winnipeg will produce 25,000 copies of the magazine, which will be inserted into industry publications such as Ignite magazine. Meetings and conventions e-newsletter Tourism Winnipeg will distribute a quarterly e-newsletter to showcase new developments, provide updates and feature Team Winnipeg partners to keep Winnipeg top of mind to its distribution list of more than 5,000 association executives and meeting planners. Website Tourism Winnipeg will continue to develop and market www.meetingswinnipeg.com for increased engagement and ease of use, offer feature listings for stakeholders, deliver attendance- building resources, drive traffic to industry partners and more. Digital marketing such as Google Ads, customized landing pages and blog content will be instrumental in generating new traffic. SEO and paid search Tourism Winnipeg will offer Google Advertising co-op advertising that will send traffic directly to a partner's profile page from www.meetingswinnipeg.com on a pay-per-click basis. When users search Google for travel terms, such as Winnipeg meetings, conventions or things to do, partner ads will appear through the Meetings Winnipeg website along the web page's side bar or in the yellow-highlighted box. This provides a targeted approach and greater reach to generate more traffic and leads while taking advantage of Tourism Winnipeg's Google ranking. Photo and video asset creation Tourism Winnipeg will offer co- op funding for creation of photo and video assets to strengthen content marketing and promote Winnipeg as a meetings and conventions destination. Sports and special events Winnipeg is a city with a passion for sports and boasts a rich tradition of hosting successful sporting events. Sport tourism is defined as any activity that attracts people to a specific location as a sport event participant or spectator, or to attend sport attractions. The sport tourism industry in Canada surpassed $6.8 billion in spending in 2016, according to custom data tabulations from Statistics Canada. There are an estimated 200,000 sporting events that occur annually in Canada. Sporting events create media attention, contribute to economic and sport development, increase sport participation, raise civic profile, engage the community, increase infrastructure investment and foster civic pride. Industry collaboration Tourism Winnipeg continues to collaborate with the Province of Manitoba (primarily the Sport Secretariat within the department of Sport, Culture and Heritage), the City of Winnipeg, Sport Manitoba, Travel Manitoba and various stakeholders such as True North Sports and Entertainment for a coordinated approach to acquire major sports and special events.
