physical locations in Winnipeg More than supporting diversity and inclusion employee education benefit Canada Life works with post-secondary institutions like Red River College, The University of Winnipeg and University of Manitoba to recruit new graduates from a variety of programs in technology, business and actuarial science. For more than a decade, University of Manitoba actuarial students have joined the company for work placements to gain valuable on- the-job skills and experience while they pursue their education and designations. The Asper School of Business named Great-West Life the 2018 Co-op Employer of the Year. The Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) co-op program is one of Canada Life's cornerstone student programs and creates a mutually-beneficial arrangement where students work alongside the CPA team. Canada Life believes continued education is not only valuable for employees' personal and professional growth, it also plays an important role in fostering a skilled and engaged workforce. From upgrading skills to better respond to changes in the field, to sparking creativity and encouraging leadership, education opportunities allow employees to spread their wings in a way that works for them. Internal workshops, webinars and instructor-led training are an accessible way for employees to explore new skills and tools, and Canada Life encourages continuous learning with a $2,000 annual tuition reimbursement option. Canada Life also instills a shared sense of responsibility in its employees to give back; voluntary staff clubs, employee resource groups and volunteer opportunities help employees connect to each other and the community. Clubs and resource groups build supportive, encouraging and fun networking opportunities, while creating a more diverse, inclusive environment. They spearhead collaborative community projects that benefit Manitobans through organizations such as United Way Winnipeg and Winnipeg Harvest. Employee wellbeing is top of mind at Canada Life. It offers employees an on-site gym and fitness classes, an annual $400 wellness account, a Wellness Services office staffed with a registered nursing team and a virtual healthcare provider for non- urgent issues that connects them to doctors and specialists. As employee feedback helps shape the products and services Canada Life offers, it recently increased Psychology and Social Worker coverage to $5,000 per employee and eligible family members per year. Investments in employee wellness allow Canada Life to continue offering Canadian customers the services they have trusted for more than a century to help them make good choices that improve their financial, physical and mental wellbeing. "We have a long history and deep roots in Winnipeg as Great-West Life, and we believe the power of caring has made us who we are today. From supporting the next generation of professionals through internships and training opportunities, providing employees with valuable financial, physical and mental wellness benefits, and creating space for our people to make a positive impact on diversity and inclusion in our organization through employee resource groups, we're fostering a culture of growth, community and success."
