Winnipeg
profile
Northern exposure
The Winnipeg Art Gallery's Inuit Art Gallery joins the Canadian Museum for
Human Rights as the city's latest architectural marvel. Its interior – particularly
its vast event spaces – harkens beautifully to Canada's Arctic, while the Centre
itself works as a hub for both reconciliation – featuring a team of Indigenous
curators and a working centre for Inuit artists – and a home to the world's
largest collection of contemporary Inuit art.
True North strong and fancy
Completing Winnipeg's SHED (Sports, Hospitality and
Entertainment District) is True North Square. Adjacent to Bell MTS
Place, this $400 million mixed use development currently features
two stunning towers, a public plaza replete with a brewery from
Lake of the Woods Brewing Company, restaurants, a cocktail bar,
a café and kiosks from some of the city's best restaurants, and a
high-end grocery.
Global gardens
Canada's Diversity Gardens is a $100 million
indoor/outdoor horticultural attraction. The Leaf,
the Garden's centerpiece, features four distinct
biomes encompassing 6,000 sq. metres,
offering stunning meeting and event spaces,
a café and restaurant, a huge indoor waterfall
and a butterfly garden that enchants all visitors.
