Pre or Post-Churchill Enhance your Northern Adventure by experiencing Winnipeg's world-class attractions. From polar bear conservation, to Subarctic ecosystems, to the inspiring galleries and stunning architecture of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, Winnipeg provides the perfect complement to your trip up north. For Churchill packages, contact Lazy Bear Expeditions (see pg. 28) DAY 1: PRE-CHURCHILL Add an in-depth Arctic experience to your Churchill trip at the world's most comprehensive northern species exhibit — the Journey to Churchill — at Assiniboine Park Zoo. This 10-acre site features numerous cold- climate species such as polar bears, Arctic fox, muskoxen, and snowy owls. Inside the Aurora Borealis theatre, you'll experience the northern lights dancing around the 360-degree dome, while the culture of Indigenous and Inuit peoples are showcased in interactive exhibits, connecting wildlife and people. The Zoo is also home to the Leatherdale International Polar Bear Conservation Centre, where you'll learn important polar bear-focused research. The award-winning Manitoba Museum provides a thrilling voyage of excitement and discovery, including the ability to take your group on an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the museum's vault. Items not on display in the museum are carefully preserved in humidity and temperature-controlled vaults. View pieces from the Hudson's Bay Company (HBC) gallery's Inuit collection and discover the history of HBC, along with the traditional lifestyles of Indigenous, Métis and Inuit communities in relation to the fur trade. Call on the help of Folklorama Talent to assist you in hosting an evening event or reception for your group. Folklorama Talent is the talent agency behind Folklorama, the world's largest and longest running multicultural festival. They can provide you with an array of entertainment — including musicians, dancers, and singers — from top contemporary and international performers from around the world in a variety of languages. DAY 2: PRE-CHURCHILL When the Canadian Museum for Human Rights was built, members of the research and curatorial team gathered input from Indigenous elders, community members, scholars, artists and curators to create the Indigenous content that is found in each of the Museum's 11 galleries. On top of that, the Indigenous Perspectives gallery contains numerous artifacts, works of art, and a 360-degree theatre that both educates and honours the stories and beliefs of Turtle Island's (North America's) original peoples.
