THE FORKS NATIONAL
HISTORIC SITE
When visiting Winnipeg, ask any local and they
will proudly proclaim The Forks is the place
to be! Whether in the sweet summer heat or
the whimsical winter frost, The Forks bustles with
events, festivals, and activities.
Located at the junction of the Red and
Assiniboine rivers, The Forks has been a meeting
place that began with Indigenous peoples,
followed by European traders, and later with rail
yards and surges of immigration. The history of
The Forks tells the dynamic tale of how Winnipeg
grew into the beating heart of our continent.
Take a guided tour covering The Forks' 6,000
years of history in 60 minutes, and join us
for exciting activities all summer long! Visit
