14 2020 Business Development & Communications plan Aerospace Winnipeg is home to Western Canada's largest aerospace cluster with 58 companies 1 having headquarters or operations in the city. Manitoba's exports of aerospace products and parts reached $597 million during 2018, the third largest in Canada 2 . The aerospace industry employs over 4,100 people in Manitoba 3 and Winnipeg shows the second highest concentration of aerospace employment activity in Canada. Winnipeg is uniquely positioned to offer aerospace companies the support, talent, institutions and technologies to assist them in becoming more cost and environmentally competitive. Our advantage for the sector is a highly connected aerospace ecosystem comprised of academia, research institutions, government bodies and an active industrial base made of Original Equipment Managers (OEMs), Small-Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and industry associations. Winnipeg's value proposition for the aerospace sector goes beyond its active ecosystem. The city has leveraged two of its unique elements to become a competitive hub for the sector — its cold climate and central location.
