Some have said it is a game changer for
Downtown Winnipeg. One thing is certain—True
North Square is the first privately developed
Class-A office concept to be built in Winnipeg in
three decades. It has already won two awards
for environmental and construction design, and
it is changing the way Winnipeggers see their
downtown.
The concept, once complete, is meant to create
another exciting space in the city with 1.5 million
sq. ft. of office, hotel, residential, retail, parking
and public plaza space across five towers.
It is an attractive vision to sell to outside
investors, young professionals and newcomers
to our city.
The first tower and public plaza opened in
summer 2018, attracting lead tenants Thompson
Dorfman Sweatman and Scotiabank, as well
as MNP and Ceridian later in 2019. The second
tower opened to homeowners in July 2019,
giving a bump to our downtown population and
vibrancy with a 194-suite tower.
Buzz continued to grow around the Hargrave
St. Market, which opened in December 2019
and it did not disappoint. The elevated food
hall concept built on Winnipeg's already lively
culinary culture, provides people another dining
option before or after events in our sports,
hospitality and entertainment district (S.H.E.D).
As development continues on Sutton Place
Hotel and Residences, and the North American
headquarters for Manitoba-made company,
Wawanesa, we will have another reason for
people, businesses and industry to choose
Winnipeg.
