Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto or a venue unlike any other in Winnipeg, bring your delegates to the Winnipeg Art Gallery. Canada's oldest civic art gallery, celebrating its Centennial in 2012-2013, has 14 galleries covering five centuries of art. Until the end of August 2013, 100 Masters: Only in Canada presents outstanding works by Rembrandt and Renoir, Monet and Matisse, Picasso and Warhol, and so many more. One of Canada's finest Modernist buildings, the WAG is conveniently located downtown within walking distance of the Winnipeg Convention Centre and major hotels. Catering and audio visual technicians available on-site make planning for your next meeting or convention event a breeze. When it comes to choosing a meeting space, there are plenty of options. Boasting soaring 21-foot ceilings, the 3,000 sq. ft. Tyndall stone Eckhardt Hall is a breathtaking space on the ground floor that can accommodate 180 for a sit-down dinner and 300 for a reception. The WAG's boardroom is modern and comfortable, setting an elegant tone for any occasion. If you're hosting a formal presentation or concert, the 319-seat Muriel Richardson Auditorium is equipped with digital sound, theatre lighting, a large backstage area, hi-speed Internet (available throughout the building) and green room, as well as a 10-foot Bosendorfer grand piano. "Wherever you turn in the Gallery there is art," says Doren Roberts, the WAG's Manager, Events and Rentals. "No other event facility in the city can offer the same ambience that we can." In summer, enjoy panoramic views over the city from the Rooftop Sculpture Garden with room for 200. The adjacent penthouse lobby, available year-round, features enormous north-facing windows and capacity for 90 for a stand-up event. There's also Storm Hall and Storm's private room run by inhouse caterers with capacities of 40 to 100 people. Host an intimate dinner for 60 or reception for 75-150 in the spectacular Skylight Gallery where the galleries are accessed on the third floor. Additional features include access to the galleries, free audio tours, open for events at additional cost, and the Double Take package, featuring a guided gallery tour followed by an art-making session with drawing, painting or clay. "Double Take offers delegates an outlet for creativity," says Roberts. "It's a great choice for board retreats, companion programs, or smaller groups that want to do something interactive." The Gallery Shop is a treasure trove of handcrafted jewelry, ceramics, glass ware, and textile art by local and national artists. With an artistic legacy unique to Manitoba, the WAG is the ideal venue for your special occasion.
