It has 18,000 artifacts, memorabilia and game-day jerseys and equipment covering 72 sports that document the province's sporting life for the past 125 years. Highlights include numerous pieces from the NHL's Winnipeg Jets players Dale Hawerchuk and Teemu Selanne, Cindy Klassen's skin suit and bike, and Kerry Burtnyk's Brier shirt. www.halloffame.mb.ca Courtesy Cory Aronec Photography Courtesy Parks Canada Courtesy True North Sports & Entertainment INVESTORS GROUP FIELD Set to open in 2013, Investors Group Field is the new stadium for the Canadian Football League's Winnipeg Blue Bombers and University of Manitoba's Fort Garry campus, it boasts, 33,500 seats with the ability to expand to 40,000 seats for major events. U.S. singer-songwriter Taylor Swift's June 22 sold-out appearance at Investors Group Field will be the $190-million stadium's first concert. www.investorsgroupfield.ca JUNOS 2014 Canada's premier music awards show for the country's top recording artists returns to Winnipeg in 2014. The 43rd Juno Week festivities take place March 24-30 with the main awards show taking place on March 30 at MTS Centre. Juno week festivities include a music showcase, a charity hockey game, a fan fare autograph session, a songwriter's circle and more. junoawards.ca/press/2014-juno-awards VARIETY HERITAGE ADVENTURE PARK The new Variety Heritage Adventure Park at The Forks is an educational adventure for kids of all abilities. The area's history comes to life through experiential play zones, such as the Hudson's Bay Company York Boat and a traditional beadwork board. www.pc.gc.ca/lhn-nhs/mb/forks/ne.aspx CANAD INNS ENTERTAINMENT CENTRE AT THE METROPOLITAN THEATRE Built in 1919, Winnipeg's grand dame the Metropolitan Theatre, was a dazzling 24,000 sq. ft. neoclassical gem with a domed ceiling, twin staircases leading to a large mezzanine and an enormous chandelier. Designed by renowned American theatre architect C. Howard Crane, the theatre was closed in 1987.
