tourismwinnipeg.com 27 CULINARY ADVENTURE For nationally acclaimed cocktails, there is The Roost on Corydon (a perennial favourite of both our staff and Canada's 50 Best Bars list) and Forth, which has both a basement lounge and rooftop patio and is now also looked after by the Roost team. Also on the 2020 best bars list is Langside Grocery and Patent 5 Distillery, both of which are located in gorgeous heritage buildings. We also rave over the dishes, drinks and vibe of Sous Sol, the city's coolest basement culinary experience, while Close Co. is the best spot for a super intimate setting (it seats only eight inside, eight on the patio) with big flavours from the city's smallest kitchen. For a chic Canadiana-inspired setting, check out SMITH at the Inn at the Forks for craft cocktails and farm-to-table fare. At a glance, Yujiro is a mainstay for Japanese; Capital Grill (two locations: Broadway and Charleswood) is a mighty fine space for upscale casual cuisine. Nonsuch Brewing Co. combines gorgeous food with incredible beer all served in an even sexier room. You can find Nonsuch in the Exchange District, arguably the city's new culinary epicentre where so many of the great restaurants have even greater patios that either look onto Old Market Square, or are set up right on sidewalks under the ash trees. Considering all of the buildings here are heritage ones, it makes for a most-charming setting for any meal. Brunch enthusiasts must go to Clementine, one of the best spots in all of Canada for brunch (so says The Globe and Mail), while a few other sure bets are newbie Juneberry, which has a great patio overlooking the Red River, Marion Street Eatery and neighbourhood gems Falafel House and Bernstein's Deli, both of which excel at Jewish-style comfort food. pegcitygrub Always dishing up stories, reviews and videos on Winnipeg's best restaurants, chefs and culinary events.
