Summer is a great time to catch a scenic view of the winding
Red River as you sip coffee and share brunch at Juneberry's
spacious riverside patio. The Exchange District's cute café
Clementine also offers an amorous atmosphere for a relaxed
breakfast date, where you can indulge in the yogurt panna
cotta for dessert. Then stroll the cobblestone paths while
window shopping in the elegant terracotta-clad buildings
and beautiful stone and brick warehouses. Many a Hallmark
holiday movie has been filmed here, too.
Hop aboard a Splash Dash River Tour for a refreshing
perspective of the city from its waterways or spend an
afternoon wandering the booths of local makers at the St.
Norbert and Downtown Farmers' Markets for handmade
treasures like repurposed jewelry, artwork and sweet treats.
In line with the proverbial "the way to the heart" idea, pack
a picnic with provisions from specialty grocers like Mottola
Grocery, DeLuca's, The Cheesemongers Fromagerie and
Black Market Provisions and sit amongst beautiful blooms
at Assiniboine Park. Afterwards, hop on a Bee2gether Bikes
rental, sure to have the two of you in tandem in no time,
or stroll through the beautifully serene Leo Mol Sculpture
Garden, along with winding paths and free-form beds of the
English Gardens.
Cozy up and experience dining al fresco at Close Co. or The
Roost on Corydon, offering two of the city's most impressive
outdoor dining areas. Visit the tasting room at Patent 5
Distillery for artfully designed cocktails in the turn-of-the-
century warehouse that once housed the horses and wagons
of the Dominion Express Company. Nonsuch Brewing Co.,
Kilter Brewing Company and Barn Hammer Brewing also
offer beautiful spaces to sit and sip a pint.
