New hotel brands will improve overall capacity and serve as a motivator to bring meeting and convention groups, corporate business and leisure travellers to the city. » Wayfinding Wayfinding is a process, through the use of maps and other graphics, by which people are directed to their desired destinations. A comprehensive wayfinding system incorporates different signs tailored to their respective travel modes that range from air, car and bus to cycling and walking. It includes welcome signage at city entry and exit points, airport routing, public transportation services, parking facilities, pedestrian and biking pathways that lead to centres of business and tourist attractions. Wayfinding increases sense of place by incorporating the city's identity on signs that reinforces a city's brand, encourages exploration of a city by providing ease of movement and increases awareness of centres of commercial business and visitor attractions. Tourism Winnipeg will collaborate with the City of Winnipeg's Planning, Property and Development Department to develop a potential wayfinding plan for Winnipeg. Travel Manitoba's Star Attraction signage program will also be taken into consideration when in discussions. Visitor experiences will be enhanced through: Directional signage International 152,282 Trans-border 475,239 2010 Domestic 2,742,239 Print and electronic visitor information such as maps, website, etc. Directional streetscaping/landscaping such as landmarks, buildings, parks, etc. Information technology for GPS systems, mobile applications, Wi-Fi hot spots, etc. Visitor services such as interactive information kiosks, 1-800 numbers, etc. Tourism Winnipeg will support the Winnipeg Airports Authority (WAA) to expand air routes by representing Winnipeg at specific trade initiatives. These additional routes will improve market access and provide greater convenience for travellers. Expanded air access provides cooperative marketing opportunities with air carriers, tour operators and travel agencies in order to increase corporate business and leisure visitations. 14 A Master Tourism Plan for Winnipeg | 2011-2015 | 2013 UPDATE
