The 2021 issue of The Winnipeg Investor magazine was
developed and launched at our 2020 Investor Breakfast
event. The Building Back Stronger theme focused on Winnipeg
companies that successfully adapted existing products or
services or created new ones to secure a stronger future for
their business.
Social media success
Content creation was big in 2020 at EDW. Across all sectors
EDW published 194 articles through Only in the Peg, Peg
City Grub and the EDW Newsroom. These stories received
859,684 pageviews, compared to 351,407 views in 2019; a
245 per cent increase.
This increase in views can be attributed largely to the rise in
engagement on TW's and EDW's social media channels. In
2020, our coverage of companies and sectors earned 1.86M
engagements on social media across all platforms; that's
500,000 more engagements than in 2019.

earned media value of $2.3 million.

Dayna Spiring speaking about the much-needed boost in
funding to help more businesses build up their e-commerce
presence. She noted these services were as important
as revenue and liquidity to ensure the success of a small
business. The funding could also ensure businesses could
invest in better online platforms to gather important data to
make informed decisions about their recovery.
"Where do we go from here?"
December 1, 2020,
Toronto Star
This story in the Toronto Star was first carried in the Winnipeg
Free Press
and explored the opportunity to redevelop Hudson
Bay's Downtown Winnipeg store. The discussion began with
the store closing its doors, but led to a larger conversation
about what all three levels of government, businesses and the
Winnipeg community would like to see in the 650,000 sq. ft.
space. Both CBC National and the
New York Times covered
this story, putting the potential of Winnipeg's downtown
development on the national and global stage and increasing
interest from outside developers.
