Dan Harper Economic Insight Data Warehouse In partnership with the Province of Manitoba, a key objective in EDW's strategic business plan was to develop a database with dashboard capabilities. In the past year, we were able to complete dashboards with insights that could help our Business Development teams assist Winnipeg companies and their clients. Location and land-use dashboard This dashboard organizes data from the City of Winnipeg and Spacelist, which our Business Development Managers use to assist investors find the best possible areas in the city to locate their businesses, expand their operations or optimize existing locations that have evolving business requirements. Talent dashboard Our team developed a skills gap analysis to identify areas of greatest need within Manitoba. It allowed the talent attraction and its partners to pinpoint critical skill gaps in 10 key industry segments for the next five years. This analysis includes a robust, forward-looking and dynamic labour market dashboard that identifies the regional skill needs of employers in Manitoba and across the country. FDI dashboard Our MI team worked with insights from data analytics company, Dun & Bradstreet, to identify the top five international markets where Winnipeg could focus investment attraction and develop an FDI-focused dashboard. It is meant to provide a global macro level view identifying countries that rank highest for activity in selected industries. The information in the dashboard is broken out by number of the: » businesses » employees » industry stability score These same variables are then displayed within Canada, Manitoba and Winnipeg, allowing us to see how we compare to locations across the globe. 17 2020 Annual Report
