High Reliability Organization Council (HROC) is a Pittsburgh-based research organization that expanded to Winnipeg. YW supported HROC in the areas of issues management, qualified contacts, site selection and talent recruitment. YW helped HROC identify several projects where it could contribute to the local research ecosystem, including a potential partnership with CancerCare Manitoba. In the future, it is considering moving the bulk of its scientific research, Research & Development, consulting services and future manufacturing into Winnipeg, making it HROC's world headquarters. Local manufacturer A large local manufacturer is expanding its Winnipeg facility to increase capacity and add new capabilities. Our team has supported this growth by connecting it with appropriate City of Winnipeg officials to address and support various permit issues and by facilitating conversations with the Office of the Fire Commissioner to expedite commissioning of new gas-fuel equipment. Precision ADM With our support in the areas of advocacy and issue management, Precision ADM was able to secure contracts with the Province of Manitoba to produce 500,000 reusable N95 masks with an option for another 500,000. Precision ADM continues to expand its portfolio of products and YW is providing ongoing support for exciting growth projects. Business development In response to COVID-19, our Business Development team implemented a strategy focused on enhanced outreach and support for an additional 172 local businesses to better understand their current reality and pain points in a challenging time. We created and maintained two web pages—COVID-19 Government Programs and COVID-19 Toolkit—to better inform the business community about critical supports available to them. These pages received strong viewership, with the program page maintaining its spot as one of the top 10 visited pages on our website throughout the year. Our sector teams also developed and executed revised strategic subsector plans in 2020. Areas of focus included heavy power users, agribusiness byproducts, e-commerce, cyber security and film. 20 2020 Annual Report
