2020 Tourism Winnipeg successes
Although business events came to a standstill through much of 2020, our Business Development
team developed and pursued leads that resulted in new opportunities for Winnipeg. The
following are the number of bids and request for proposals for future business, down 60 per
cent (123 bids/proposals) compared to 2019.

2020 Tourism Winnipeg results
In 2020, there were 137 events that were scheduled to be held in Winnipeg. Thirteen came to
fruition while 124 were cancelled due to the pandemic. We succeeded in rebooking 42 events.
Overall, the losses represented 46,300 delegates/participants, more than 115,800 hotel rooms
and more than $67 million in direct spend.
