Travel media publicity We developed an effective marketing public relations platform to connect with travel media around the world to build awareness, improve perception and engage potential visitors through media relations. Touchpoints included media visits and familiarization tours in partnership with Travel Manitoba and Destination Canada, a quarterly e-newsletter, story pitches, assistance with editorial/image/b-roll requests, media releases and media marketplaces. Our travel media program pivoted in the pandemic to safely host local influencers on staycations as part of our leisure marketing campaigns. We also partnered with Travel Manitoba in November and December in a social media campaign featuring local influencers to promote local shopping and restaurants. In 2020, 193 travel media articles were generated with an earned media value of $7,667,932 million. "Why Design Lovers Should Visit Winnipeg" Architectural Digest Hosted travel writer Karen Gardiner highlights significant Winnipeg architectural landmarks, including the Winnipeg Art Gallery's Inuit Art Centre, Canadian Museum for Human Rights, Esplanade Riel and more. "21 Best Places to Go in 2021" Conde Nast Traveler Winnipeg makes the cut as one of the 21 best places to go 2021. Travel writer Karen Gardiner writes about the opening of Qaumajuq at the Winnipeg Art Gallery and the rich culture of Indigenous Peoples in our city. "Visit one of Canada's coolest cities" EnRoute magazine (page 68) Hosted travel editor Dominique Lamberton highlights some of Winnipeg's coolest winter attractions, including The Forks, FortWhyte Alive and the ice climbing tower in St. Boniface. "Canada's top 7 under-the-radar foodie destinations you need to visit" Forbes.com Travel writer Sandra MacGregor taps Winnipeg as a must-visit foodie destination, featuring restaurants such as Clementine, Enoteca, Nonsuch Brewery, The Forks and more.
