3 Assiniboine Park and Zoo assiniboineparkzoo.ca The world's most comprehensive Arctic species exhibit, Journey to Churchill astounds audiences with its polar bears that playfully swim right overhead in the Sea Ice Passage. The vast 10-acre exhibit features an incredible array of Northern species, while more than 200 other animals are represented throughout the zoo, including snow leopards and Amur tigers. The zookeepers and scientists are famous here too, having starred in CBC Television's Arctic Vets. In Assiniboine Park, be sure to check out the brand-new Gardens at The Leaf, a gorgeous 30-acre horticultural exhibit. 4 The Forks theforks.com Winnipeg's most-visited tourist attraction has it all! The whole area is brimming with attractions, shopping, dining, green space and history. On the grounds you'll encounter the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, the Children's Museum and Manitoba Theatre for Young People. Take a stroll along the tree-lined paths, take a ride on a novelty bike, have a little fun at the Fort Parka playground, and marvel at the plentiful public art including an inspiring new Indigenous-led area called Niizhoziibean. After all that, enjoy some outstanding food and drink options within The Forks Market. In summer, head to the harbour for river boat cruises and see locals shred on the Tony Hawk-approved skate plaza. In winter, rent skates and head out onto the Centennial River Trail where upwards of 10 km of groomed skating trails await and warming huts created by some of the world's best architects and designers dot the trail. 5 Hermetic Code Tour at the Manitoba Legislative Building heartlandtravel.ca/book-a- tour/hermetic-code-tours-of- mb-legislative-building/ Get this: our stately neoclassical Legislative Building is actually a temple to hermetic knowledge. For more than a century no one could decipher the meaning of all the hieroglyphics, numerological codes and imagery found throughout the building until Dr. Frank Albo brought it all to light in his book The Hermetic Code. Albo and the team at Heartland International Travel & Tours now lead tours of the building that will blow your mind, unveiling its grand interior and façade to be a modern ode to Solomon's Temple on this evening of intrigue that is celebrated by all who have seen its secrets revealed. 6 Manitoba Museum manitobamuseum.ca How many places do you know that can take you from the huge aquatic lizards of the cretaceous period, across the cosmos through space and time, to the bison-laden prairie plains all under one roof? If your answer is none, then you haven't been to the Manitoba Museum. The galleries will enthrall kids and adults alike, whether you are catching a Planetarium show, admiring the port of its signature Nonsuch Gallery or viewing some of Canada's most important historical artifacts. With over $20 million in recent upgrades, the Manitoba Museum continues to enchant.
