Transcona Historical Museum W The museum preserves and promotes the history, stories and community spirit of Transcona through rotating exhibits located in a 1925 heritage building. Special collections include 3,500 archaeological and First Nations artifacts from throughout Manitoba. Educational curriculum programs and group tours are available by appointment. Open June to August, Monday to Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; September to May, Monday to Friday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Hours subject to change. 141 Regent Avenue West – Transcona Tel: 204.222.0423 Email: info@transconamuseum.mb.ca transconamuseum.mb.ca E D Q M Trappist Monastery Provincial Heritage Park W Established in 1892, the monastery moved to a site near Holland, Manitoba in 1978 to protect their contemplative life from urban encroachment. In 1983, fire destroyed part of the original buildings and today you can walk along the remaining walls and landscaped paths with interpretive signs. It is also the site of Shakespeare in the Ruins plays and special events. 100 rue des ruines du Monastère – St. Norbert Ukrainian Museum of Canada W The museum is located in the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral, a Winnipeg landmark featuring a Ukrainian Baroque architectural style with an exterior mosaic by Leo Mol, a carved icon screenwall and stained glass windows. The museum houses a collection of Ukrainian folk arts and crafts, a library and gift shop. Open July to end of August, Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and by appointment by calling 204.334.5267. 1175 Main Street – North End Tel: 204.582.1018 htuomc.org Upper Fort Garry Provincial Park W Visit the historic HBC Upper Fort Garry where the province of Manitoba was born in 1850. Newly reclaimed, today's interpretive park tells its story through art and technology. Don't miss the sound and light show. Download the free apps to your phone or tablet, then visit the site for a fun, new historical interpretation experience in 11 languages–French, English, Cree, Ojibwe, German, Ukrainian, Japanese, Mandarin, Cantonese, Tagalog, and Arabic.
