NEW & NOTABLE Winnipeg Art Gallery-Qaumajuq Qaumajuq, meaning "it is bright, it is lit" in Inuktitut, is the city's newest attraction. The 185,000 sq. ft. centre has become a cultural campus in the vibrant centre of downtown Winnipeg, with one-of-a-kind features like a three-storey glass vault that houses thousands of carvings from nearly every region of the Arctic. As a venue, it offers classrooms, a theatre and inspiring gallery spaces with striking architecture throughout that celebrates the North. Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada The Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada is set to reopen in a brand new $46-million facility replete with never-before-seen aircraft, a new observation deck to do some planespotting and a 6,608 sq. ft. Hangar Floor showcasing a history of Western Canadian Aviation that includes the CF-104 Starfighter. Gardens at The Leaf Gardens at The Leaf is a $100-million horticultural attraction and event centre. As a venue, it combines the best of both environments—giving you the chance to host an outdoor reception amongst lush, thematic gardens before flowing indoors to enchant guests within its biomes and butterfly garden. Its central building, The Leaf, is encased in a stunning, conical all-glass panel façade and features an onsite restaurant and patio that will service events often using ingredients that are grown in the surrounding outdoor gardens.
