We can't wait to welcome you back to Winnipeg! Our hip, happening city is located on Treaty 1 territory, the original lands of the Anishinaabeg, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, and Dene Peoples, and on the homeland of the Métis Nation. For over 6,000 years our city has served as a meeting place, just as it continues to do so today. Let's not sugar coat it—or perhaps, as would be more apropos of Winnipeg, coat it in maple syrup à la Festival du Voyageur—the past two years have been tough for our industry. We've seen convention dates moved back, jumped through countless hoops to ensure the safety of visitors and planners, and we continue to support our locals in any way and every way possible. But we're optimistic and we're very eager to showcase the new Winnipeg to delegates and meeting planners alike, because while much of the world has been standing still during the pandemic, this city's world-class roster of attractions and venues has continued to grow. Winnipeg Art Gallery-Qaumajuq opened in 2021 to acclaim from some of the English-speaking world's biggest publications, including The New York Times, Forbes, and Travel + Leisure. It was also featured on the cover of TIME magazine, with Winnipeg dubbed one of the "World's Greatest Places 2021" in the issue. Last year also saw us named the "Most Intelligent Community" by the Intelligent Community Forum. By fall 2022, the world will again be dazzled by the unveiling of The Leaf at Assiniboine Park. This massive horticultural attraction contains biomes representing climates from around the world, while as an event space your guests will mingle within a backdrop that includes Canada's largest indoor waterfall, a butterfly garden and a number of outdoor gardens that will ensure your event stays in bloom. Plus, there's the impressive and massive new Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada, which is now cleared for takeoff as a venue that will see your expectations soar. All this and more awaits you here in Winnipeg, where myself and the whole Tourism Winnipeg team is ready to make your next meeting or convention shine.
