It's clear that businesses recognize our economy
needs to recover and we all have a role to play in
charting that course."
Ryan Kuffner,
Vice President of Sales & Business Development
Economic Development Winnipeg
The Megill-Stephenson Company, a Chipman
family-owned company with interests in real estate,
automobile sales, sports and entertainment, "took a
flyer" on YES! Winnipeg shortly after it was launched
by Economic Development Winnipeg in 2010.
"The purpose was right with private sector-led
economic development fostering growth in business
in Winnipeg. We've been impressed and we think
it's a great resource to have in our community to
build the business community. Based where we are,
we have to do it for ourselves by supporting each
other and growing from here," Peacock said.
Other companies are getting involved with the
campaign again after taking a break. Mike Ketler,
Business Development Manager for the Winnipeg-
based accounting firm BDO Canada, said he likes
the direction YES! Winnipeg has been taking over
the last year.
He said BDO is ready to help companies that have
committed to the province—particularly in advanced
manufacturing, IT, agribusiness and life sciences.
"What's good for Winnipeg is good for us. It makes
our clients successful and it makes us successful,"
he said.
