When you invest in your community,
the community grows and then more
people have to travel, which benefits
the airport, which allows us to invest
in the community again."

Where do you see new areas of opportunity and
growth for the WAA?
BR: We're Manitoba's airport. We're doing a master plan
to set the stage for the next 30 years, which will become
the basis for the next phase of growth and development
for and around the airport. We're investing $100 million
in cargo infrastructure requirements that will open up the
supply chain for fresh pork. There is potential for about
1,700 acres of land to be developed over the next 20 years
plus 400 acres of housing. In the next six years, you're going
to see an extension of the terminal building. It was built for
five million passengers a year. We were at 4.8 million just
prior to the pandemic. A lot is going to happen here in the
next five to 10 years.
