Smak dab in the middle of the Canadian Prairies, some people may overlook Winnipeg as a place to live and work. The Manitoba capital, however, has seen tremendous growth thanks to its quality of life, low cost of living and sense of community. Winnipeg's diversity and inclusion partnered with personal and professional opportunities make it an ideal place to call home. On an international stage, Winnipeg is largely known for its cold winters and, well, its NHL team, but for Winnipeggers—born and raised or transplanted—it is so much more. "Our city is filled with people who have a good sense of community and who care," said Lisa Cefali, Partner, Executive Search & Strategic Development at Legacy Bowes. "I think once people get here, they realize they can have a different lifestyle and there's so much that Winnipeg has to offer." Legacy Bowes is an organizational consulting company with an established reputation for supporting Winnipeg businesses and First Nation communities in providing executive search and recruitment services, human resources support, and leadership training. As part of its executive recruitment operations, Legacy Bowes worked with YES! Winnipeg to create an information and welcome package for job candidates that illustrates why Winnipeg is a great place to live, work and play. It's aptly titled Why Winnipeg. "When we promote Winnipeg as a place to live, we talk about the diversity in terms of communities and restaurants," said Cefali. She added Legacy Bowes, with its strong presence within the Indigenous communities, organizations and employee base, has helped bring people from across the country into Winnipeg through search and recruitment efforts. "We talk about the sports and arts that we have—and it's all affordable. It truly is." REAL TALENT Whether raised or recruited, talent remains our strength 56 THE WINNIPEG INVESTOR REAL TALENT
