Mike Peters Tourism Winnipeg highlights Tourism Winnipeg (TW) is the city's official destination marketing organization and leads all efforts to attract visitors, group tours, special events, sports and business events to Winnipeg. We highlight the city's star attractions, festivals, events, arts, culture, restaurants and services to provide residents and visitors the best possible experience. As of March 2022, the team returned in full force to in-market business development initiatives across all our geographic and vertical markets to position the city as a destination of choice. Tourism Winnipeg returned to welcoming visitors to the city offering our suite of client services from visitor information booths, marketing collateral and digital assets to itinerary building to drive delegate and participant attendance. Throughout the year, we actively supported partners, their clients and the industry while developing strategies to assist in rebuilding our fragile tourism economy. Business Development – Return to market Tourism Winnipeg executed on a vertical business development strategy, targeting business events aligned with the city's strong economic sectors in key recovery markets (agribusiness, life sciences and ICT). Leveraging these strengths provided a compelling value proposition to support the attraction of national and international events to the city. The TW team executed on 29 initiatives (business-to-business marketplaces, tradeshows, client events and sales missions), including: » Ottawa Meet Week, connecting us with more than 100 Canadian association leaders and meeting planners. » Rendez-vous Canada, the premier international marketplace, which brings together selected international tour operators to meet invited suppliers of Canadian tourism products, services and information. » Annual Sport Forum, in partnership with Sport Manitoba, connected us with 43 provincial sports organization representatives for future hosting consideration. Site visits & familiarization tours Our team was excited to return to hosting familiarization (FAM) tours to provide exceptional firsthand experiences to clients who host international business events/sports championship or schedule education tours to Winnipeg. Tours included: » Eight city-wide business event planners for a three-day itinerary, which included a day trip to Churchill as well as a hosted reception with local ambassadors. » Several joint FAM tours with Travel Manitoba, for a total of 89 clients representing 78 companies. A Destination Canada Strategic Planning and VIP Familiarization tour included eight international tour operators and major accounts, such as Fresh Tracks, Maple Fund Tours, Routes Adventures and EF Tours.
