WELCOME TO WINNIPEG Winnipeg combines the wondrous and whimsical with world-class attractions and a vibe all its own. Here on Treaty 1 Territory, you can experience polar bears swimming overhead, journey through the gamut of human rights in an architectural marvel and see the finest collection of turn-of-the-20th-century buildings—all in one afternoon. We're a cultural epicentre home to 6,000 years of Indigenous history where new, impactful First Nations, Inuit and Métis-led initiatives lead us on a path to reconciliation. Walk the city's streets and you could hear up to 100 different languages—particularly in the worldly West End—as Winnipeg is open to all and a manifestation of multiculturalism. Winnipeg Art Gallery-Qaumajuq was celebrated last year across the globe's arts publications for bridging the Arctic with the cosmopolitan, putting Inuit culture in the spotlight like never before. Our culinary scene too has grown with spots showcasing what Cree, Métis and Ojibway cuisine can mean. In winter, you can breathe in balmy tropical air as Canada's tallest indoor waterfall cascades, then go skating on the world's longest naturally frozen river trail where seemingly half the city can be found biking, skiing and gliding past whacky "warming huts" that are more likely to warm your heart than your feet. You can dine while seated on this same ice from tasting menus created by some of North America's best chefs, who annually come to showcase their skills at RAW:almond. You can steam your day away at our celebrated spas then roar into the night with the loudest crowd in hockey. During summer, our renowned festival season provides headlining acts, theatre, jazz performances and more, along with the opportunity to chill under the shade of the elm canopy or in an expansive, verdant park. You can paddle and take boat tours up and down the city's rivers, and cheer on sports teams with passionate (and admittedly cheeky) fans. It's no wonder we've been called, "one of the world's greatest places" by TIME, while The New York Times, Travel + Leisure and National Geographic have fawned over our arts, sports and social scenes. This city's story winds more than our rivers, and you will encounter something uniquely Winnipeg everywhere you look. This guide will give you everything you need to make your Winnipeg experience easy. We'll point you to all the most popular (and hidden) attractions and gems. We'll highlight our culinary scene, which produces as many tasty plates, styles and services as a city five times this size. And you'll find helpful guides, maps, listings, hotels and more. Start exploring and experiencing how real moments are made here. The Forks, photo by Salvador Maniquiz 2 tourismwinnipeg.com WELCOME TO WINNIPEG
