Aviation enthusiasts will soar at the recently reopened Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada, where budding pilots can explore hands-on exhibits, a kids' zone and even pedal planes (available in the summer). With an observation deck providing stunning views of planes taking off and landing at the nearby Winnipeg Richardson International Airport, this museum is a dream destination for aviation lovers. Winnipeg's green gem, Assiniboine Park, is home to the Assiniboine Park Zoo with its award-winning Journey to Churchill exhibit that educates about Arctic species and climate change. In summer, ride a miniature steam train, stroll lush trails and play in the nature playground. Aunt Sally's Farm, the latest addition to the zoo, features a charming barnyard with goats, llamas, and other animals, plus colourful playgrounds for children. For wildlife exploration, head to FortWhyte Alive and the Oak Hammock Marsh Interpretive Centre. Here, visitors can encounter a fascinating array of creatures, interact with birds or walk along floating boardwalks that immerse you in the environment. At The Forks, families can't miss the Children's Museum, with 12 hands-on galleries bursting with creativity and fun. For future actors, Manitoba Theatre for Young People offers full-scale productions for children of all ages, while Fort Parka provides free historical programming by Parks Canada, inviting kids to learn about the area's rich past. Witness where billions of coins are produced each year for Canada and 80 other countries with a guided tour of the Royal Canadian Mint. Eager minds will also enjoy the Manitoba Museum, where immersive exhibits like the life-size Nonsuch ship and 1920s Downtown Winnipeg provide endless learning opportunities. Explore the Science Gallery, or gaze at the stars in the Planetarium. For active kids, Winnipeg has a host of indoor adventures, from climbing, crawling and sliding at Kid City and Hide 'n' Seek to bouncing at trampoline parks like Fun Park Indoor Amusement Center and Flying Squirrel. Hotels like Canad Inns Destination Centre Windsor Park and Fairfield Inn & Suites feature water parks with slides, creative pools, kiddie areas and relaxing hot tubs. Holiday Inn Winnipeg – Airport West even boasts a three-story Pirates Cove Playland, while the Victoria Inn's Dino Beach Pool & Waterslide takes families on a Jurassic adventure with themed murals, life-sized dinosaurs and water attractions.
