Baby Baby is by Chris Gama and Raya Conrad, the owners of Clementine who have brought in the worldly talents of chef couple Daly Gyles and Nick Gladu to much fanfare. Shirley's takes reservations and is open for lunch, while Baby Baby does not but is certainly worth the wait (or, just get there for 5 p.m. when it opens). Neighbourhood gems and more • The worldly West End is where it's at for Vietnamese cuisine (Thanh Huong, Pho Hoang, Viva, etc), Ethiopian (Gohe, Gojo, Habesha), Korean (Little Korea, Kim Baek), tacos from Sargent Taco and so much more. • South Osborne and Osborne Village is a culinary hot spot featuring Oxbow Natural Wine Bar, Tabula Rasa, Sous Sol, Zaytoon, Vera Pizzeria, Hoagie Boyz, Chaeban Ice Cream (winner of North America's best ice cream), Black Market Provisions, Friend Bakery and Pizzeria and BMC Market (for the best bang for your buck authentic Morelia-style tacos). • St. Vital flaunts the wildly popular Harth Mozza and Wine Bar and Santa Ana Pizzeria, along with gems like Siam Authentic Thai, the super cute Korean spot, Café Lemon Tree and the city's best Filipino restaurant, Tito Boy. • For Indigenous-focused fare, check out the nationally celebrated Feast Café Bistro, Métis farm-to-table dishes at Promenade Brassie and Bistro on Notre Dame and Ojibway and Cree-inspired creations at Manoomin in the Wyndham Garden Winnipeg Airport hotel. Food Halls • Located right in the heart of downtown, Hargrave Street Market offers food kiosks from some of the city's best, including ramen and izakaya dishes from Saburo Kitchen by the aforementioned Yujiro team, freshly brewed beer from Lake of the Woods Brewing Company and several concepts from Academy Hospitality, including the chic Gusto North restaurant for fine Italian fare and a pretty slick second floor patio. You can also get craft cocktails from Rose Bar while you're there. • The Forks Market continues to offer a world of options. Its new kiosks include Aroma Bistro with its Winnipeg- famous chili wontons, Skyr with its vibrant bowls and smørrebrøds, BASTA! Filipino Kitchen by award- winning chef Norm Pastorin and the new pasta and fresh cheese-centric restaurant Colleen's. They join a lineup that already included legends like Tall Grass Prairie (the original heritage wheat bakery), Red Ember Common with its crazy good pizza, Fergie's Fish 'n Chips for local walleye, Wienerpeg for the best locally made hot dogs, Taste of Sri Lanka and numerous others. While you're there, be sure to wet your whistle at The Common, featuring an expertly curated list of 20+ beers and wines on tap. Check out our Best Eats website for detailed guides on all manner of cuisine, including our impressive Middle Eastern, Thai, vegan, Chinese, Indian, French, brunch and deli scene.
