INDIGENOUS
EXPERIENCES
As the Indigenous Tourism Association of
Canada makes clear, "Indigenous tourism
is reconciliation in action." Here on Treaty 1
Territory, the traditional lands of the
Anishinaabe, Ininiwak, Anishininiwak, Dakota
and Dene peoples, and the homeland of the
Red River Métis Nation, you'll find numerous
Indigenous-owned and -operated businesses
and tourism operations. Of course, Winnipeg is
also home to Canada's largest urban Indigenous
population, with more than 11 per cent of the
city being First Nations, Métis and Inuit.
