LOUIS RIEL'S TOMB W M Visit the resting place of Louis Riel, Métis leader and founder of the province of Manitoba. 190 avenue de la Cathédrale (St. Boniface Cathedral Cemetery) – Old St. Boniface / Winnipeg's French Quarter LOWER FORT GARRY NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE w M A History will unfold before your eyes at this restored 19th-century fort where costumed staff recreate the 1850s in the Red River Valley. Come and meet the governor of the Hudson's Bay Company as he strolls through his garden, barter with the company clerk, or sit in a tipi and listen to the whispers of ancient legends. Historic interpretation runs Monday to Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in May and June, and seven days per week in July and August. Motorized access for mobility- challenged visitors available. The site is open to groups for tours or meetings by pre-registration. The exhibitions change about three times each year, so there is something new to see every few months. In addition, the library is open for browsing by the general public, and holds history, theory and instruction books on most craft techniques.
