The exhibit tells the story of a real pirate ship that sank off the coast of Cape Cod over 300 years ago, with more than 200 artifacts recovered from the ocean floor. For families and young visitors, an audio tour specially created for children up to age 12 complements the exhibition experience. Kids also can try their hands at raising a pirate flag, tying real sailors' knots, and looking through a telescope to find ships with treasure on board. MUSEUM GALLERIES W The Manitoba Museum is noted for the dramatic walk-through settings among its nine spectacular permanent galleries. From the Nonsuch, a replica of a full-size 17th-century ship that sailed the world; to the Urban Gallery, a trip back through time to the roaring 20s; to the dramatic Orientation Gallery with its recreation of an early bison hunt, a trip to the Museum is a journey through Manitoba's past, present, and future. PLANETARIUM W The Manitoba Museum is the first Planetarium in Canada to offer visitors the Digistar ® 5 All-Dome digital projection technology. With a rotating schedule of eight new shows, this new projection system dramatically enhances the visitor experience, using two wide-angle video projectors to cover the entire dome with a single seamless video image. SCIENCE GALLERY W Lake Winnipeg: Shared Solutions opened in March, 2014. The centerpiece of this interactive exhibit is a high-tech computer simulation of the Lake Winnipeg watershed, allowing visitors to make decisions which affect the health of the lake. As lake stewards, visitors must decide which problems to tackle, and which solution has the desired effect. The Science Gallery features many fun, interactive exhibits that encourage learning and discovery. Visitors can learn what they'd weigh on other planets, interact with a tornado, explore basic principles of science, and try out their talents on a laser harp. MANITOBA SPORTS HALL OF FAME W M The Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame celebrates and showcases sport excellence and achievement in Manitoba. The decade-galleries of sport will walk you through time where you'll see artifacts and memories of Manitoba's rich sport history such as the WHA AVCO Cup and Clara Hughes' bike from the '96 Olympics. 2015 feature exhibits celebrate 100 years of Hockey Manitoba and the Grey Cup Game coming to Winnipeg. Be inspired by Manitoba's sport heroes. 145 Pacific Avenue (in the Sport for Life Centre) – Exchange District Tel: 204.925.5936 Email: halloffame@sportmanitoba.ca www.manitobahalloffame.ca LEGEND a Gallery | M Museums The Manitoba Museum: Cory Aronec Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame: Dave McKnight www.tourismwinnipeg.com 47 THINGS TO DO GALLERIES & MUSEUMS a M
