Winnipeg's signature walking circuit "The Loop" is a 9.5 kilometre, 3.5 hour self-guided urban trail that gives walkers an opportunity to discover some of Winnipeg's special points of interest and vibrant urban areas, including The Forks, the Exchange District, St. Boniface, and downtown. River Rouge offers public sightseeing cruises that sail twice daily from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Specialty cruises such as Family Fun Saturdays and The True Blue Tailgate Parties are also available. Each cruise offers entertainment. The M.S. River Rouge can also be booked for both corporate and private charters for groups of up to 400 people. The M.S. River Rouge hosts Saturday Boat Party Cruises from 11:00 p.m. to 2 a.m., with a DJ and dancing. See the house where Neil Young lived and began his songwriting career; see the house where Burton Cummings and Randy Bachman of The Guess Who wrote "These Eyes," "No Time," and others, as well as where Burton Cummings composed "Share The Land," "Rain Dance," and more. See the school where Neil Young sat on the steps "and dreamed of being a star;" where Bachman Turner Overdrive (BTO) was first conceived, the house Terry "Seasons in the Sun" Jacks grew up in, the spot where Neil Young met Joni Mitchell, plus much more. Situated on an attractive peninsula of land with the river winding around it, the colonists had easy access to the Hudson Bay post for supplies, drinking water, and transportation. Its citizens were the future leaders of Winnipeg. The tour begins from the Ross House Museum in Joe Zuken Heritage Park and is approximately 45 minutes long. No admission fee. The tour will guide you through the rich history of the francophone community and the history of Winnipeg's French Quarter as you visit landmarks and observe historic architecture. Learn about the magnificent St. Boniface Cathedral, the great fire, and its new, modern design. The one-and-a-half to two-hour walking tour of Old St. Boniface is offered twice daily at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. seven days a week from the May long weekend to September long weekend.
