A view to the Arctic Assiniboine Park Zoo and The Manitoba Museum are offering a unique way to learn more about Arctic and Sub-Arctic life in Manitoba. With this unique partnership, students learn about polar bears, First Nations and Inuit culture via interactive workshops and experiences. On a full day of exploring, students will be exposed to how climate change is affecting the north, and how Arctic animals and peoples have adapted to live in often-inhospitable conditions. The Arctic Adaptations program sees students start their morning at Assiniboine Park Zoo in their premier Arctic exhibit, Journey to Churchill. Through hands-on activities, students discover how seals, Arctic fox, musk ox, snowy owls and other northern animals survive temperature extremes in the Arctic habitats After lunch (where playing polar bears are often part of the ambiance) they'll make their way to The Manitoba Museum for a fun-filled afternoon exploring Inuit ingenuity. Through hands- on artefact studies, students discover how the limited resources of skin, snow, stone and bone were integral to the survival of the Inuit. tours@assiniboinepark.ca • 204.927.6070 Peg City performance venues When it comes to venues for students to find an audience, nearly all of Winnipeg is a stage. The Lyric Theatre in Assiniboine Park looks onto a vast green space walled-in by towering trees; on the stage inside The Forks Market a crowd always awaits as, amongst throngs of tourists and international food carts, it seems like all the world's a stage; while on the grounds of the Manitoba Legislative Building students can see their works staged under the sphinxes, Golden Boy, and pantheon of Greek gods who look out from this stunning neoclassical building.
