THE BRUCE D. CAMPBELL FARM AND FOOD DISCOVERY CENTRE W The Bruce D. Campbell Farm and Food Discovery Centre is a fun place to explore your food's journey from the farm to your plate. Part of the University of Manitoba's Glenlea Research Station, it covers crops, livestock, food processing and the kitchen. Highlights include windows into a pig barn, birthing of piglets (see website for dates), interactive exhibits, and workshops (e.g. baking and making ice cream). The centre provides self-guided tours, guided group tours (by appointment), parking, picnic area, and bus drop off. Grounds and multipurpose room host family activities (e.g. fun days, geocaching), presentations and meetings (call to book). The structure, cable-stayed from a single, transversely inclined pylon rising 57 metres above the Red River, reflects the lightweight nature of its pedestrian traffic, while the spire signifies a place of meeting in the middle of the Red River. A historical diorama can be viewed from the bridge, named in honour of Louis Riel.
