Pantages Theatre, built in
1913-14, hosted vaudeville
performances by Buster Keaton,
Charlie Chaplin and the Marx
Brothers. Tickets cost 10, 15 or
25 cents for an exclusive box seat.
It was the first air-conditioned
building in Winnipeg. Huge
pieces of ice were placed in the
basement and large fans were
used to blow air over the ice and
cool the patrons.
