www.winnipeggroups.com 5 WHEN IN WINNIPEG P Culture Capital Canada's Cultural Centre is ripe with experiences, institutions and grandiose buildings that have laid the foundation for all our artistic merits. These tours bring you behind the scenes, showing a side of Manitoba's capital that cultural and history buffs will really relish. NEVER TU MUCH While Canada's Royal Winnipeg Ballet's (RWB) performances have been putting audiences in rapture for the past 75 years across the globe, it's only in Winnipeg where groups can pull back the curtain to see just what goes in to making the show. During the behind the scenes tour at RWB, groups can explore the studios, see the costumes, and take a movement class with dancers who bring one of the world's most celebrated dance companies to life. A VAULTED MUSEUM EXPERIENCE Groups looking to quench their curatorial curiosity will love getting inside the vaults at The Manitoba Museum. The behind the scenes tour reveals the treasures, fossils and objects that rarely see daylight, including unique artefacts that are part of "Manitoba's National Treasure," the Hudson's Bay Company Museum Collection. ART FOR ALL From specialty tours with artists and curators, to private guided tours for groups, the Winnipeg Art Gallery is always ready to bring you the stories and histories behind the paintings. Whether it is a critically acclaimed touring exhibition, or an insightful look at their permanent collection of Canadian and international historical and contemporary art — including the world's largest public collection of contemporary Inuit art — the Winnipeg Art Gallery is sure to please. ALL THE CITY'S A STAGE The prominence of Winnipeg's performance groups has helped see us dubbed "Canada's Cultural Cradle," as live theatre is an almost nightly occurrence. Group rates, tours and backstage experiences are available for many of our celebrated groups and venues, including the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre, Prairie Theatre Exchange and Manitoba Theatre for Young People — which has fantastic interactive student programming. Winnipeg also hosts Canada's second largest Fringe Festival every July, which sees the historic Exchange District absolutely brimming with street performers and creativity.
