6 Tourism Winnipeg | 2017 Destination Marketing Plan & Partnership Opportunities I N T R O D U C T I O N MISSION STATEMENT It is Tourism Winnipeg's mission to facilitate a healthy, prosperous, responsible and fully integrated tourism industry that enhances Winnipeg's economic growth through the acquisition of meetings, conventions, sports and events, group and packaged travel and leisure visitation. POSITIONING STATEMENT Tourism Winnipeg promotes Winnipeg as a desirable site for meetings, conventions, business, sports, special events, groups and leisure travellers in order to increase visitation and tourism expenditures. Promotional efforts highlight a wide array of quality meeting venues, sport facilities and accommodations, all surrounded by a wealth of unique, outstanding and easily accessible attractions and services that provide year-round enriching experiences with exceptional value and broad-based appeal. GOALS › Promote the city of Winnipeg as a desirable four-season tourist destination in order to increase visitation › Operate with greater effectiveness and efficiency, and increase return on investment › Provide value to stakeholders and visitors by providing relevant platforms OBJECTIVES › Mobilize effective direct sales activities › Mobilize effective marketing and communications platforms › Increase stakeholder engagement and community awareness › Expand visitor services › Maximize research, data collection and competitive intelligence reporting
