To the Site Selection Committee,
Tourism Saskatoon is proud to support the bid to host the 2019 IIHF World Junior
Hockey Championship, this time in an exciting partnership with our colleagues in
Winnipeg, Manitoba.
We helped to set a new standard for this event in 2010, and we hope to use this
experience and capacity to once again innovate and expand the wide arrange of
activities associated with the 2019 Championship.
Saskatchewan and Manitoba are fertile development ground for junior hockey players
and there is no doubt that the hosting of this event will further increase our province's
interest and capacity to further this objective.
Saskatoon's tourism industry has expanded significantly since 2010, with 1,200
additional hotel rooms, an expanded international airport, and enhancements to Sasktel
Centre and TCU Place, Saskatoon's Arts & Convention Centre. Events are our primary
tourism draw and hosting excellence is part of our mandate.
We look forward to a successful return of the 2019 IIHF World Junior Hockey
Championship to Saskatoon and Winnipeg.
