Page 28 It's our Time It's our Time Community Overview - Saskatoon COmmuNiTy OvERviEW As the youngest city in Canada (median age of 34 years), Saskatoon is one of the country's premier tourism destinations, famous for its stunning river, the iconic Delta Bessborough hotel and the warmth of its citizens. As teams and spectators arrive at John G. Diefenbaker International Airport, they'll experience the $53 million upgrade that was completed in 2015. Arrivals and departures have never been easier! Over 4,600 hotel rooms and 800,000 square feet of convention and event space are waiting to dazzle fans and delegates as they experience the 2019 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship in Saskatoon. Saskatoon has considerable experience hosting major sport events, such as: the 2016 National lacrosse league final, the 2015 WBSC World Men's Saskatoon Softball Championship, the 2013 MasterCard Memorial Cup, the 2012 Tim Horton's Brier and the 2010 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship. As the Guinness World Record holder for the largest Outdoor Snowball Fight, you know Saskatoon loves winter. From sports like the Saskatoon Blades junior hockey team and the Saskatchewan Rush National lacrosse league team, to leisurely outdoor activities like tobogganing, cross country skiing and kicksledding, there's something for everyone. perhaps one of the most popular winter activities in the city is to strap on a pair of skates and head out to the Cameco Meewasin Skating Rink. located right next to Saskatoon's "Castle on the River" the Delta Bessborough, this outdoor skating rink can't be missed.
