Based on the information provided in the bid package, the 2019 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship qualifies for $750,000 in financial support. To move forward with this opportunity, Winnipeg must be selected as host city by January 31, 2017. The city has significantly changed since the IIHF World Junior Championships were last held here in 1999 thanks to billions of dollars of investments into new infrastructure. This includes several new sport facilities, such as the state-of-the-art MTS Iceplex, featuring four NHL regulation-sized rinks, and the world-class MTS Centre, home to the NHL's Winnipeg Jets and AHL's Manitoba Moose. Hosting a large-scale event like the IIHF World Junior Championships would not be possible without the tireless efforts of volunteers, and this is where Winnipeg's community spirit shines. Manitoba has a reputation for being one of the most generous communities in Canada. We have a stellar reputation for a large volunteer base and dedicated, passionate people willing to go above and beyond. Winnipeg takes pride in being extraordinary and is excited to host the 2019 IIHF World Junior Championships, creating vibrant and lasting memories for your participants. We are looking forward to the possibility of hosting the 2019 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship and to working with you. Please contact me at 204.954.1987 should you have any questions.
