For 2016, PKF Consulting Inc. forecasted Winnipeg to end 2016 with a two point increase in average occupancy (65%),
the projected average daily rate will remain unchanged over 2015 at $126 and RevPAR is expected to expand upwards
an additional 3% from $79 to $82.
As of October 2016, PKF Consulting Inc. reported Winnipeg's average occupancy rate stood at 66.3%, increasing 2.4
points from 63.9% in 2015, which is slightly higher than the national average of 65.7%. For the same period, Winnipeg's
average daily rate was $125, on par with 2015 in a year-over-year comparison. Although, Winnipeg continues to have a
lower RevPAR than the national average of $83, Winnipeg's RevPAR as of October 2016 is up 3.9% in a year-over-year
comparison.
Months of note in 2016 are October, April and May with increases in RevPAR of 16.6%, 6.3% and 6.1% respectively.
These months were strengthened by hosting the Tim Horton's Heritage Classic and three large citywides back-to-back in
a 12-day span with more than 5,400 delegates in May-June.
