ii 2017 TRAVEL TRADE PLANNER WINNIPEG Welcome to Winnipeg Lonely Planet has named Canada as the "Best Travel Destination for 2017," so why not get to the middle of it all and discover Winnipeg, the "Cultural Cradle of Canada." Winnipeg is receiving quite a bit of attention these days. National Geographic Traveler Magazine named us as one of the 20 best trips for 2016, Vogue magazine just did a feature labeling us as "Vaguely Exotic, Totally Obscure, and an Absolute Must-Visit Destination," while our dynamic culinary scene continues to be lauded over by US, Canadian and international publications alike. Plus, it's Canada's 150th birthday this year, so celebrations — including the 2017 Canada Summer Games — will be happening all over the city, making for one lively atmosphere. In the past year our two newest attractions — the Journey to Churchill exhibit at Assiniboine Park and Zoo and the Canadian Museum for Human Rights (CMHR) — have continued to wow visitors and tour groups, while expanding on their collections of international awards. Winnipeggers — who have always been known for their hospitality and innovation — have recently taken extra pride in the city by creating entertaining and insightful tours, events and festivals that celebrate everything from our stately architecture to our acclaimed dining, arts and design scene. This planner is brimming with itinerary ideas, free group activities, supplier profiles and maps. It's a collaborative effort on the part of hoteliers, attractions, events and receptive operators — all of whom will work with you to create an exceptional experience in our city. On behalf of Tourism Winnipeg, the city's official destination marketing and tourism organization, let me be your guide and help plan your next tour to Winnipeg. I look forward to seeing you soon, Sarah Robinson Manager, Business Development Tourism Winnipeg Suite 810, One Lombard Place Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada R3B 0X3 PHONE: 204.954.1995 CELL: 204.894.4021 TOLL FREE: 1.855.734.2489 Skyline: Dan Harper
